CMOS
Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor is the memory for the BIOS.
ROM is where the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) information is kept. ROM is actually RAM. The RAM just means Random Access Memory as opposed to FIFO memory (First In First Out) which is like a pipe that only holds a certain amount of data, the excess is dropped out the other end. The ROM (Read Only Memory) in your computer is non volatile and cannot be changed easily. There are usually ROM flashingg utilities for upgrades, etc.
CMOS will hold information for very long periods with very low drain.
This usually holds the BIOS values that are not often changed.
Usually held by a 3.3V battery.
The RAM you are thinking of is the memory that holds all the programs and data you are working with including the operating system, hardware drivers, and system utilities that run in the background. This type of memory is volatile and is gone when the power is lost to the computer even for a split second.
That is where a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) comes in handy.
haha are you at the L.I.U???? because i need it also
