How to password protect a usb flash drive?
| March 23, 2011 | Posted by computer accessory under USB Gadgets |
My usb is 16gb and the brand is sandisk. I want to password protect it, because it has alot of important stuff/ other stuff that i dont want people to read if they ever find my usb.
The program cant ruin my usb either like it wont let me on/ corrupt my usb or something like that.
Does anyone know a program that can password protect my usb flash drive?

Here is a program for you to use http://www.usbcrypt.com/ (usbcrypt) this program will password protect your usb.
watch this video on usbcrypt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvR7nnG8iiY&feature=related
sometimes it is easier to find than othrs like tamsin’s had a password as soon as she inserts it into her laptop. I fiddled around with mine and it is possible but its really trial and error
scandisk have a u3 os system on it that allows you to password protect it
i use it on all of my flash drives just don’t forget the password
There are 2 choices, compressed folder, or USB secure program.
If you want usb secure, then use this
download from this website
http://www.newsoftwares.net/usb-secure/
it’s free unless you want to buy the full version
compressed folders can password protect and it’s free.
1. Put everything in one compressed folder.
2.When in the compressed folder, click File, then add a password. You can then choose any password you want.
Hope this helps!
Best answer please
And this only works on windows computer. I don’t know how to do it on a mac. You can also do it on other files. I also don’t know how to do it on a windows vista and windows 7.
