How do I determine what type of BIOS my laptop has?

I’m trying to figure out what type of BIOS is on my laptop. (( AMI, Award, Phoeniz, etc. )), but I’ve been unable to locate any information to help me do so. I tried looking up how to do so on the internet, and I can’t find anything at all.
How do you backup a BIOS without a floppy drive?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 with Vista and BIOS version 2.1.0 A07 and i’m getting more memory for my laptop and it says I need to update my BIOS and I wanted to backup my BIOS just in case anything happens when I do update it.
How do you check the bios version and if needed upgrade bios?

Been thinking of upgrading my laptop’s memory and the website says: Special notes: Dell Inspiron 5100 must an updated BIOS to version A32 in order to recognize 1GB of ram (two 512MB modules). How do I check my bios version? thanks!

Ive been wondering if there are benefits from updating my bios. Ive come to understand that there are some heavy risks involved if this is not done correctly. Also how can I tell if this needs to be done? Right on thanks guys.
BIOS and Rootkits in a PC running 2 different Operating Systems?

Two different OS are running in my computer; Linux (Fedora) and Wondows Vista. Does deleting Kernal-mode rootkits detected in the Windows has any affect on the RK existance in the Fedora through the BIOS? Another Question: I am going to install a registry clearner, is that recommeded after using an antirootkit?

I cant find the pass. Is there any way. Dont tell me to remove battery because I am very tired today are there any other methods for that. And one more thing is it good to update bios?

I heard about a universal password [code] to access computer bios. I forgot the password for bios on my pc and can't get in. It is a Compaq Presario 2200, and was manufactured in August of 2004.

I had a Bios password on it and then I removed it, and now it wont let me get into my programs without a password. I have tried the old one but it is not correct. What happened, and what can I do?

I’ve purchased an Asus-G50V about month and half ago. Everything is satisfactory, except the ‘stickiness’ of the keys. I’ve heard that there is a way to configure this in the computers BIOS. How so?
