Can you use a server motherboard in a desktop computer?

Well, can you? I’ve google searched this multiple times, but all it turns up is info on using a desktop motherboard for a server.
Server motherboards can take a lot more RAM, and even use multiple processors. Is there any reason why a server motherboard and processor wouldn’t work in a desktop computer? Would you be able to use a low-end server motherboard into a desktop computer with really good multi-tasking abilities?

you can use a server mobo for a desktop computer. Contrary to what the first poster said, It will not be a slow computer. You just need to make sure that your OS will recognize all the ram that you are adding. For instance Vista 32 bit will only recognize 4 gigabytes of ram if you step up to the 64 bit it will then recognize 128GB: for the Ultimate, Enterprise, and Business SKUs
16GB: Home Premium
8GB: Home Basic
I am not positive on the last question but I think the max amount of processor’s that it will support is eight.
It would be S-L-O-W. Server computers look at the info many times, before using it. They don’t want the wrong info to go out. You don’t want a server motherboard!
Yes but there are mother boards that can handle 16 GB all you have to do is build it.
