Why during overclocking does my computer freeze at the motherboard screen?

I am overclocking my AMD 3800 duel core. I find a stable clock speed, and it boots fine out of the BIOS. And I run Prime 95 and it is stable. But, when I restart the computer it freezes at the motherboard screen. Do you know what the issue is?
Is there a specific motherboard or motherboard vendor that oficially supports Linux?
